At a ceremony last night Dr. Bhalani was honored as Volunteer of the Year by the Florida Today.

Dr Bhalani was named Volunteer of the Year for his efforts to provide thousands of needy people receive free health care, medical supplies and equipment. His response to the needs of others is immediate and heartfelt. With the founding of the Doctors' Goodwill Foundation in 2003 he has organized dozens of missions around the world including New Orleans after Katrina devastated that area. Through the foundation dozens of students have received scholarships through the educational initiative.

In addition to his mission work he meets the needs of those less fortunate closer to home. His work here has included free surgery for an uninsured migrant worker stricken with cancer, living expenses for another cancer victim, donating his time to the Brevard County Health Department, as well as donating supplies to Brevard schools.

Dr. Bhalani' ability to pull together physicians, health care workers and others in times of crisis is matched only by his compassionate, giving nature. His enormous personal contributions of time, money, and care to those less fortunate embody the spirit of volunteerism.

The Doctors' Goodwill Foundation is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization in the United States. The Foundation consists of more than 150 area physicians and health care professionals, whose goal is to promote health related education, research and participates in local and international charitable medical missions.
